Aida Lillian Cooke, 84, of Willingboro, NJ passed away suddenly on April 23, 2020 at Lourdes Hospital of Willingboro. She was born August 21, 1935 to the late Clifton and Evangeline (Montrose) Smith. Aida attended St. Anthony’s Catholic High School in the Bronx, NY graduating in 1953. She began working at Jamaica Hospital as a nurse’s aide before continuing her employment as a secretary in various departments. Aida has worked several secretarial positions in NYC to include CBS and the American Cancer Society, prior to moving to Willingboro where she accepted a position with the Willingboro Board of Education. She worked there from 1972 to 2000, when she retired. Aida also served as a key member of the union.

Aida met and then married John W. Cooke in NYC on August 19, 1961. She was a loving and supportive mother to Kevin, Crystal and Robin. She was also a doting grandmother to the love of her life, Kayla Marie. Aida is also survived by her brother Alan (Ann) Smith, a brother-in-law Emmett Dennis II and a host of nieces and nephews.
Aida was preceded in death by her parents, Clifton and Evangeline; her husband, John W.; 2 sisters, Glenalvon (Ronnie) Thomas, Julia Dennis; and a brother, Clifton (Bernice) Smith.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all services on April 29, 2020 were private. Professional services were provided under the care and direction of Dennison – McGee Funeral Home, 869 Beverly Road, Burlington, NJ. Interment followed in Lakeview Memorial Park Cinnaminson, NJ.
