Condolences

Condolence From: Becky Mott
Condolence: Fred was a big part of my life before I ever met him!

In 1986, I was told that “someone” was ready to pay whatever was lacking for my first cross-cultural experience in India.

When I later began preparation for moving to Egypt, I received a large donation from someone in Pennsylvania whose name I didn't recognize. It was Fred Morgan.

A couple of years before he had heard a couple speak who challenged the audience that believers either answered the call to “Go” into all the world or they sacrificed so others could go. Fred had started putting money aside monthly for that couple, but at the meeting at which I was accepted to serve in Cairo, they had resigned. Fred took that as a sign that those funds were for me.

On my first furlough, Fred arranged for us to meet. As I shared my disappointment in the slowness of 'fruit' in my work, Fred reminded me that my job was to be faithful and that God decided on the timing of the Harvest.

When I contacted supporters a few years later to suggest that they reduce their gifts as I had income from a teaching position, Fred refused to cut back. He still wanted to be part of the work that God was doing.

When I got married in 1996 and joined my husband in a different country, Fred increased his giving. When we had kids, he increased his giving. When I was mugged, Fred increased his giving. (He believed the attack was a sign that the enemy wasn't happy with what we were doing and he wanted to respond by getting behind us in an even greater way.

Yes. We will miss being the benefactors of Fred's monthly, sacrificial gifts, but more than that we are missing already this man who stood in our corner and whose writing of a check each month affirmed the depth of his commitment to seeing churches planted among some of the least-reached.

Mrs. Morgan, Fred was so proud of you! When he came to visit us last July, he showed us pictures of you with your beautiful red shoes at the parade. He delighted in being there for you.

Al, Sue and sons, thank you for taking up the slack. There's no way to replace Fred but thank you for being there for your Mom. It would mean a lot to him.

Blessings,
Becky

So sorry for your loss. I have often thought back on our childhood memories.
Playing ball, watching westerns on tv and all the other adventures kids could enjoy. Fred really liked Wyatt Earp. Fred was a good person and all his trails will be happy. The LORD is getting Himself a pretty good cowboy.
